road marking paint preheater

Road marking paint preheaters are also referred to as road line machines, and these special machines have made the process of painting lines on roads considerably easier than it had ever been before. They heat the paint in such a way as to allow for it to be sprayed smoothly and quickly. Warm paint flows easily, which means road crews can get done with their work sooner. This is definitely a good thing, as it results in lower traffic delays and road closures which benefits both the roads themselves but also anyone using them.

One of the significant jobs is road marking as it makes a long way isolated and secure. The lines marks help keep drivers from running into each other. Before this incredible machine was implemented, road workers would paint the lines by hand with nothing but a brush or roller. This approached consumed a lot of time and was not very efficient at all. The paint reheater [above], pictured in 1957, allowed workers to heat up a massive tank of paint and simply spray it onto the road during construction. It is extremely good for everyone as this speeds up the job to a great extent.

The Science Behind Preheating Road Marking Paint and Its Benefits

That is why heating road marking paint plays a very important role in the process. Colder paint is stiffer and simply does not flow as well or adhere to the road as warm paint. If the paint is cold, it thickens and can block up in the spray gun nozzles, preventing an even application. Cold paint also requires a longer curing time, meaning the street must be closed to traffic for an extended period of time until the paint is fully dry. This can cause unnecessary traffic control in the area, but if they pre-heat this paint before applying it to a road then that process will happen quickly and reduce wait times so regular traffic patterns resume sooner.
